- Get For Vada Stuffing ::
- Take 250 gm boiled potato
- Take 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
- Get 1 tsp oil
- Take 2 green chilli finely chopped
- Take 1 " ginger paste
- Take 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Make ready 1 tsp or to taste salt
- Get 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Prepare 1 tsp amchur powder
- Get 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Take For Vada ::
- Take 1/2 cup chickpeas flour (besan)
- Take 1/2 cup maize flour (makki ka aata)
- Get 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
- Make ready 1/4 tsp carom seeds
- Take 1/8 tsp asafoetodia
- Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Get 1/2 tsp or to taste red chilli powder
- Take 1/2 tsp or to taste salt
- Take 1 pinch baking soda
You can very easily prepare this at your home as a special breakfast. Heat enough oil in a wok. Break small lump from the potato mixer and roll giving it a round shape. As u all know,its a very famous street food which was born in Mumbai,Maharashtra.
Instructions to make Mini Batata Vada(less oil Cooking):
- Take a bowl add maize and chickpeas flour,combine all ingredients except oil. Mix well. Now make thick batter by adding the water gradually. Check consistency.
- Keep aside for 10 minutes.
- For Stuffing :: Meshed the potatoes. Keep aside. On medium flame heat 1 tsp oil in a wok. Add cumin seeds roast it slightly on low flame.
- Now add meshed potatoes, on medium flame, add all the Stuffing ingredients one by one. Roast it 1-2 minutes continuously. Turn off the flame. Keep aside for cooling on room temperature.
- Grease hands with oil & make small balls to the stuffing & keep in a plate.
- On low flame heat the appam pan & pour a drop of oil in the all cavity. Lift a ball dip & coat it with the batter. Put it appam pan. Cook for 2 minutes and cover with lid.
- Cook Vada's till it's turn into golden in colour then flip. Now pour a drop of oil over it. Flip again on low flame & cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Check Vadas. If it seems baked all the sides, transfer into the serving plate.
- Our less oil, non junk snack ' Batata Vada ' is ready to serve with any type of chutney. Enjoy !!
Here in Bangalore,i have tasted vada pav only in Goli outlets. Recently i went to Goli with my school moms friends just for a kitty party. Vada Pav is also known as Batata Vada, where Batata is potato in Marathi and Pav is bread, similar to dinner rolls. They are typically served with a spicy garlic chutney. Not much, as we brush oil before placing the vada's.
